There have been a lot of discrepancies between the many theories regarding organizational management, specifically on how to deal with workers. Like we learned about in a few classes prior, Frederick Taylor saw workers as facilitators for companies to be more efficient and focused on productivity. Now we’re learning that Mayo viewed workers as social beings while maintaining the statement that workers need to be supervised. However, he mentions that for supervision to be successful, the person supervising needs to be in tune with the people he’s in charge of. In other words, it is all about building relationships. This indicates how for a business to function in a healthy manner and be successful at the same time, the need to build relationships between co-workers as well as between workers and authority figures.
